In Our Time Journal In the novel In Our Time, Hemingway discusses nonch’s attempts to process with his early animation with his family, his life as a soldier, and his efforts to fit into society when he came home from the war. The fine stories in the book that kept my attention were the stories about his efforts to ingest with his child hood. The three stories I chose to reflect on were “Indian Camp”, “The Doctor and the Doctors Wife”, and “My Old Man”. In the story “The Doctor and the Doctors Wife” the vivify is confronted by Dick, and is embarrassed. He feels as though his masculinity is being tested and that he unavoidably to protect it, he is very hostile almost. On the other hand the set up’s wife is on her sick bed and always tells the best in people. When the doctor’s masculinity is threatened he grabs his gun and cleans moreover never actually uses it. This is used as a sheer in the atte mpt to regain his manhood. While the doctor’s wife in on her sickbed, she essentials Nick to get entertain and see her but Nick decides to go off with his induce to do “better things” and be “masculine”. They go lookup in the forest to get away from everything and to be free.

Anything that the wife says to the doctors seems to not affect him at all for it is already also easy; he is already too damaged in life. In all the stories Nick excludes complication in his life to avoid pain and sorrow. I feel that Nick doesn’t expect to turn out like the doctor so he tries to hid e in activities like hunting. There is not ! a great deal dialogue in any of Hemingway’s stories to prevent the complications that come with it, and this one is no different. In “The End of Something” Nick is face issues with his girlfriend, Marjorie. He says that the relationship is not fun anymore and that it needs to end.
